Action 4 News confirmed the arrest of a Santa Rosa Police Officer inside her very own home in San Benito on Friday night.

According to San Benito Police, Mary Hernandez was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. at her home on the 1000 block of Chapman Street.

Police told Action 4 News, Hernandez allegedly punched her 15-year-old son repeatedly throughout his entire body.

The cause they said was an argument between her 15-year-old and her 13-year-old sons.

"To put it in small words, she lost it,” Lieutenant Martin Morales told Action 4 News. “A small family issue between two brothers got out of hand. It resulted in something that could have been handled in a different way."

Hernandez was arrested and charged with assault for family violence and her bond was set at $2000.

Police said she bailed out the very same night.

Santa Rosa Police told Action 4 News they will launch an internal investigation into the incident.

They said the chief and the investigators will then determine what, if any, action will be taken against Hernandez.
