Brownsville boy burned in mobile home fire

A 12-year-old boy is being treated for severe burns after an early Friday morning fire consumed his family's mobile home.

The fire broke out in a trailer park at 6467 Pierre Avenue in the Dakota Estates neighborhood around 2 a.m. Friday.

The blaze burned up two mobile homes.

Brownsville Fire Chief Lenny Perez said a 12-year-old boy suffered severe burns in the blaze.

The Brownsville Fire Investigative Unit is looking into the cause of the blaze.

The boy's name has not been released but neighbors told Action 4 News that the he was taken to a hospital in San Antonio.

They are collecting money to help his family with medical expenses.
