A vigilant store clerk is being credited for catching a man accused of robbing Weslaco convenience store.
Authorities arrested 27-year-old Juan Enrique Trejo on aggravated robbery charges on Tuesday morning.
Weslaco police told Action 4 News that Trejo is accused of robbing a Stripe store at Texas Avenue and 8th Street early Monday morning.
Trejo allegedly grabbed the store clerk and forced her to the register where he made her give him the money.
The 27-year-old Edcouch man took off in a Ford Mustang but the clerk wrote down the license plate number.
Investigators were able to use the license plate to track Trejo down in Mercedes on Tuesday morning.
Trejo later appeared before a Weslaco Municipal Court judge where he was given a $100,000 dollar bond.
Officers told Action 4 News that it was not Trejo’s first brush with the law.
He was arrested in September 2008 for robbing the same convenience store.
