Norteño star Ramon Ayala is out of a Mexican jail but now in the hospital.
The El Milenio newspaper reported that a federal judge ordered the award-winning musician’s release for health reasons.
The newspaper reported that Ayala was in critical condition and had to be transported to a private hospital to receive specialized medical attention.
El Milenio reports that authorities will continue an organized crime investigation into Ayala’s activities.
The award-winning musician and members of two other bands have been jailed since December 11th.
Ayala, members of his band Los Bravos del Norte and the bands Los Cadetes de Linares and Torrente were playing at a Christmas party for the Beltran-Leyva drug cartel.
Three people were killed during a shootout with authorities at that party.
Cartel leader Arturo Beltran-Leyva was killed in a shootout in Mexico City a few days later.
There were no updates about the members of the other bands but El Milenio identified them as:
- Hugo Dante Grajales Cantú
- Gustavo Guerrero García
- Jorge Luis Verástegui Lerma
- José Francisco García Cortés
- Rolando Ávila Muñoz
- José Carlos Salinas Rodríguez
