Authorities found the body of the pilot whose plane crashed near Port Mansfield on Thursday night.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence told Action 4 News that the body of Harvey Kinikin was found at around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities confirmed the Dumas, Texas man’s identity Sunday afternoon.

Sherif Spence said the body was found floating in the water 300 yards from the site of the crash.

Kinikin’s family has been notified about the discovery.

Authorities recovered the body of Kinikin's brother-in-law Robert James Robinett on Friday afternoon but spent the weekend searching for Kinikin's body.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transporation Safety Board are in the Rio Grande Valley to determine the cause of the crash.
