Upon moving out from her Brownsville duplex, Cassandra Ransdell came away with an unexpected surprise.
"I get charged money, taken out of my deposit for having the satellite on the roof, which we were told was ok to do," she told Action 4 News.
Her move out slip showed a deduction of $200 dollars for "damages to the roof" from the installation of the satellite.
But Ransdell claimed she got permission.
"We were given the okay to have the dish,” she added. “We were told we could either put it in the rooftop or on the fence."
On Monday, she confronted the management at the duplex complex, located on Paredes Line Rd and Alton Groor in Brownsville.
She said she did it not just for her sake, but also for her many neighbors who also have satellite dishes installed.
"I asked Mr. Gloor well you know other units have satellite in their home also, and he laughed and said well I guess they’re gonna have to pay $200 also," she said.
So when her management turned Ransdell away, he called Action 4 News to take action for her.
Manager Les Gloor refused to answer questions on camera but he did say it was all miscommunication.
He added that although he still felt he was right about the charges but agreed to give Ransdell her full deposit back.
"He did say I can go by and pick up the check for the damages on the roof. Again, I think he knows he was in the wrong," she said.
Now, she hopes her other neighbors will not go through what she did.
