HIDALGO COUNTY -- Ted Castillo and his 6-year-old daughter Hailey wait to get the highly coveted H1N1 shot.
Castillo told Action 4 news he has been concerned about the virus since he heard about it last spring.
"You start to worry a little bit so I figured I need take care of the little ones," said Castillo.
See Castillo's daughter has asthma and he said his concern is that she could easily catch the virus.
While she was not happy about getting the vaccination, her father knows that she needs it.
"They say that they're more prone to getting the swine flu, so that's why I feel like she needs it more than anybody," said Castillo.
That is why PSJA ISD offered a clinic to those high priority students that could easily catch the virus.
"This is going to be a little bit of a trial run for us. We're to see what we need to do before we open it up to the whole community."
We decided to follow Castillo and his daughter through the numerous stations they had to visit before getting the shot.
Once they got going it took no time before they were at their final destination.
Eddie Olivarez with the Hidalgo County Health Department said having smaller clinics like this one will help them prepare for the larger ones in the next few weeks.
"We may have two to three thousand people and it'll be open to the general public," said Olivarez. "Right now that's at the planning phases. We hope to get the beginnings of those clinics up and running before Christmas."
He said, despite what the National media might say about the H1N1 virus declining, the virus is still a big problem in Texas and shouldn't be taken lightly.
"Texas is still has a severe problem with H1N1 and I still encourage everyone to get their vaccine," said Olivarez.
While the shot might have hurt a bit for Hailey, her dad can rest easy knowing she is taken care of.
