WESLACO, TEXAS (AP) -- A Weslaco man is accused of abandoning his 4-month-old daughter inside a bakery.

Robert Lopez, 43, is charged with abandonment and endangerment of a child.

He was arrested Wednesday after employees of Marines Bakery & Cake Shoppe said he entered the shop with the girl, put her in a car seat, placed his order then left without buying anything.

He had drug paraphernalia with him when arrested and faces "intoxication on something other than alcohol" charges, police say.

Lopez was in the Hidalgo County Jail on Friday, and it was unclear if he had an attorney who could comment on his case.

Texas Child Protective Services will determine where the child will be placed because both parents have a history of drug arrests, police say.
