A Tuesday night San Juan City Council meeting ended with the resignation of City Manager Tony Garza.

Action 4 News has learned that city commissioners accepted Garza's resignation.

Residents of San Juan were reportedly not happy about the decision.

They had planned to protest Garza's possible termination at the meeting.

Activist Ramiro Treviño told Action 4 News that he and others weren’t necessarily defending Garza but rather protesting the city commission’s tactics.

“They seem to think they don’t have to answer to anybody and that they're not responsible to us,” Treviño said.
