Payroll problems at the Brownsville Independent School District's direct deposit system are being blamed on a technical glitch.
School district officials told Action 4 News that the problem affected roughly one half of the district's employees on Tuesday.
Some employees told Action 4 News that they supposed to receive their paychecks on Tuesday morning and were afraid deposits would not go through in time for Thanksgiving.
Brownsville ISD officials released the following statement on the issue:
The district worked diligently to remedy the situation and all employees should be able to access their funds by late tonight or early in the morning at the very latest.
The BISD Payroll Department stayed open until 7:00 pm tonight to assist employees.
Tomorrow is a holiday but the Payroll Department will reopen at 8:00 am and remain open until 12:00 Noon.
