Action 4 News has learned that a Brownsville day care worker was shot while trying to protect a 2-month-old baby while her ex-husband went on a shooting rampage.
Alfredo Aranda Aguirre faced a judge on Thursday morning where he received $1 million dollars in bonds for three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Brownsville police told Action 4 News that he 45-year-old man went on a shooting rampage at the Kid Bridge Academy off Alton Gloor Boulevard on Tuesday night.
Police said Aguirre showed up to the day care where his ex-wife with a gun and shot out the glass door.
Authorities revealed on Thursday morning that Aguirre's ex wife was shot in the back, nead and head while holding a 2-month-old baby in her care.
The baby was not harmed while Aguirre's ex-wife is expected to make a full recovery at the Valley Regional Medical Center.
Kid Bridge Academy is back and open for business.
Investigators said the couple had a rocky divorce and that Aguirre's ex-wife had recently obtained a protective order against him.
