An accident at a Port of Brownsville shipping yard has left a Houston man in critical condition.

Port of Brownsville Police Chief George Gavito told Action 4 News that the accident happened at one of their docks on Sunday.

Gavito said a 58-year-old man from Houston was helping to unload a vessel when he was hit in the head with an industrial chain.

Paramedics rushed the man to the Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville where he’s listed in critical condition.

Gavito said the case is under investigation by his office and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
