The city of Santa Rosa admitted during an Action 4 News investigation to not keeping up with enforcement of its own ordinances.

Our cameras caught loose dogs, tall grass, tires and trash on empty lots along with numerous abandoned homes throughout the city.

Assistant City Administrator, Rey Trevino, said the problems with enforcement stemmed from a lack of manpower and resources within the city.

It’s something he’s now working to turn around.

Renewed measures are now in place to beautify the city and restore enforcement of its ordinances.

Trevino said the city’s new administration must protect its law-abiding citizens from health and safety issues related to the violations.
