Wheelchair-bound woman hurt in Harlingen

A wheelchair-bound woman is in critical condition this morning after a vehicle slammed into her Monday night in Harlingen.

It happened on South 77 Sunshine Strip and Little Creek Road.

Police said the woman was travelling east in the far left  lane when the driver of an SUV struck her from behind.

She suffered serious head trauma and was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the car was questioned and released.

Police told Action 4 News that an investigation into the case continues.
