MISSION, TEXAS -- A slew of burglaries in Mission has police working overtime.

Officers said Friday they have seen a rash of television burglaries all over town.

They credit newer, slimmer models for the convenience they serve for burglars as opposed to the older, heavier TV sets.

However, police said even when they retrieve the pricey equipment, they still face a problem.

"Individuals who are reporting these televisions stolen don't have any serial numbers, model numbers, they never bothered to keep any receipts," said Sgt. Jody Tittle.  "So as we investigate it and we do start to recover property, we can't identify whose property it is."

Police suggest you keep a file of your important receipts, warranty information and owners manual.

Those items could help you get your items back.
