BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS -- Brownsville police have a man in custody who allegedly beat a teenager with a pipe.

John Albert Martinez turned himself in to Brownsville police.

He is accused of beating two 17-year-old men in two separate attacks.

One alleged victim was hit in the face with a glass bottle.

The other was hit in the head with a metal pipe and remains in critical condition.

"After seeing himself on the newscast, he decided it was better for him to just turn himself in," explained Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique.

Martinez has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
