PORT ISABEL, TEXAS -- Tuesday marks the 8th anniversary of the collapse of the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway.

A memorial ceremony is planned to honor the eight people who lost their lives during the early hours of September 15, 2001.

Sections of the causeway collapsed after four barges crashed into one of the bridge's support columns.

Friends and family will gather to honor the victims on the Port Isabel side of the Queen Isabella Causeway.
