Crossing into Mexico just got more expensive for Cameron County residents.

The Cameron County Commissioner's Court voted on Thursday to increase international bridge crossing fees.

Starting Sept. 1st, the county will charge $2.50 for cars and $0.65 cents for pedestrians to cross the Veterans, Gateway and Los Indios International Bridges.

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos confirmed the hike with Action 4 News.

The county is facing a multi-million dollar budget shortfall and declining international bridge crossings.
