A federal judge ordered the extradition of a Mission man accused in an undercover sting to ship high-powered weapons to drug lords in Mexico.
Arick Dube appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormbsy during a Tuesday hearing.
Judge Ormbsy ordered that Dube be held without bond and transferred to face a criminal complaint filed in Mobile, Alabama.
U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested the 28-year-old Mission man last week as part of an ongoing weapons trafficking case.
Court records show that an undercover ICE agent from Alabama told Dube he had stolen military weapons used by the U.S. military in Iraq.
Dube reportedly placed an $77,600 order for:
13 - fragmentation grenades
24 - 9mm pistols
45 - 5.56mm caliber rifles
5 – M4 rifles with attached M203 grenade launchers
The Rio Grande Valley man reportedly asked the undercover agent for “bazookas” and “cop killer” handguns.
Dube allegedly said that the weapons would be smuggled across the border and sent to clients “deep down” in Mexico.
Court records show that Dube lived off 5232 North Trosper Road and only had prior arrests for DWI.
