Court proceedings are moving forward on Monday for a man accused of killing a man defending his sister’s honor at a rural Hidalgo County bar.
A fatal shooting took place at "Los Galleros" bar north of Mission near 8 Mile Line and Los Ebanos Road last July.
Oscar Medrano went to the bar to confront his underage sisters for being at the bar.
Murder suspect Demacio Almaguer allegedly stepped in and began arguing with Medrano.
The argument allegedly ended with Almaguer shooting and killing Medrano and fleeing the scene.
Authorities told Action 4 News in a previous interview that Almaguer is a suspected gang member whose father owns the bar.
If convicted, Almaguer faces up to life in prison.
