Mission Crime Stoppers hailed this year's National Night Out as a big success.

The 14th annual event took place at La Lomita Park Tuesday night.

Hundreds attended, including people from surrounding areas and school districts.

Residents enjoyed food, informational booths and mingled with nearly a dozen law enforcement agencies to help take a bite out of crime.

"It's just to show how they're protecting us and they're showing how they're giving back to the community," said Aissa de la Garza.

Mission Police Chief Leo Longoria agreed.

"I think people want to be involved, they want to stay involved, they want to stay informed and they want to be a part of an organization," Longoria said. "This brings us together."
