Fire Weather Watch in Effect
 / Felicia Caime
The National Weather Service issued a Fire Weather Watch for the following counties: Hidalgo and Starr.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Monday evening.
The combination of strong south-southeasterly winds, lack of sufficient rainfall and low relative humidity values will result in an elevated fire danger threat for most of the day on Monday.
This Fire Weather Watch will likely be upgraded to a Red Flag Warning on Monday morning.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur within 24 hours.
A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are occurring now or will occur shortly.
In addition, residents are urged to exercise extreme care during all outside activities that could inadvertently cause wildfires.
Avoid parking vehicles in tall, dry grass and weeds that could be ignited by hot catalytic converters.
Do not toss cigarette butts on the ground.
Burn bans are in effect for most of the counties in Deep South Texas.
