Recovered body identified as missing shrimper

A body recovered from the Gulf of Mexico has been identified as that of a shrimper who went missing after falling off a boat .

Authorities told Action 4 News that the accident happened seven miles off the coast of South Padre Island early Wednesday morning.

Two U.S. Coast Guard boats started searching for Brownsville resident Raul Gonzalez around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Gonzalez's body was recovered about five miles from where he fell off the boat.

Authorities are waiting on autopsy results to learn more about his death.

Gonzalez was a crew member of a shrimping vessel "Matilda Tower" based out of Port Isabel.

Action 4 News will continue to follow the case.
