TSTC and STC culinary teams cook-off this weekend in Hidalgo.
HIDALGO, TEXAS -- Culinary Arts teams from Texas State Technical College and South Texas College will face off for an Iron Chef-style competition at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
The cook-off is a preliminary promotion for the Appetite For Education Cook-off on Saturday, July 25, at Dodge Arena.
It is designed to raise scholarship funds for STC students.
Each team will have five students.
Captain Andrew Moreno, Cuca Torres, Marco Berardi, Ivan Constante and Cesar Delgado will represent TSTC Harlingen.
Captain Francis Gonzales, Jennifer Martinez, Sonia H. Silva, Clare De Leon and Ian Chestnut will represent STC.
The teams will receive their ingredients at 5 p.m. July 24.
Five judges should reach a final decision at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a presentation of the food at 7:30 p.m.
