A Harlingen man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to escape from police officers who arrested him for public intoxication.
Harlingen police told Action 4 News that they responded to a fight on the 400 block of West Van Buren Street over the weekend.
Officers found 25-year-old Carlos Trejo and others there.
Police arrested Trejo under public intoxication charges but allege he ran when they had their backs turned.
Officers were able to catch the 25-year-old Harlingen man in a nearby alley and charged him with escape.
Trejo remained in custody on Tuesday morning at the Cameron County Jail under a $2,500 bond.
