EDINBURG -- An Edinburg man was arraigned after robbing "El Gallo Restaurant" in Edinburg.
Jesus Escobar walked in to the restaurant on East University Friday morning.
The man reportedly asked to use the restroom and the phone.
He then demanded money from the pregnant woman behind the counter.
Police said the mother-to-be was then beaten by the suspect.
Escobar fled the seen and was later picked up by Edinburg Police.
At the arraignment, Escobar said he meant no harm for the pregnant woman.
Escobar was charged with robbery and his bond was set at $200,000.
