A former post office employee from Mission has pleaded guilty to stealing jewelry and coins from packages he was supposed to help deliver.
Federal officials arrested Uvaldo Ramirez, Jr. in May after suspecting him of stealing a watch from a package in December.
The 45-year-old Mission man appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Ricardo Hinojosa on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to one count of stealing from the mail.
Ramirez admitted to stealing a watch, coins and rings for more than a year and a half.
According to Ramirez’s plea agreement, the former mail carrier has to pay restitution to his known victims.
Ramirez will remain free on bond until his Oct. 2 sentencing.
He faces up to five years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
