2,500 new jobs in Reynosa, Monterrey

Reynosa and Monterrey are getting 2,500 new maquiladora jobs after a Korean electronics company decided to expand operations south of the border.

LG Electronics investing more than $100 million dollars in its facilities in Mexico.

The company announced on Monday that it plans to close a television assembly plant in Mexicali in order to expand a similar plant in Reynosa.

The move will bring 1,200 television assembly jobs to the Tamaulipas border city.

The company also said they plan to expand operations at a refrigerator and electric oven plant in Monterrey bringing 1,300 jobs there.

The reorganizations are expected to take over the summer.
