Whataburger has been the Rio Grande Valley's long-reigning Top Performer champion until one their restaurants got hit with 21 demerits.

The fast food chain has made a reputation of  keeping it clean.

No other chain has received Top Performer stickers over the years.

Health inspectors gave one of their Valley restaurants 21 demerits giving the chain's first Low Performer status in years.

Company officials quickly took action and got the restaurant back in the fold.
