Weather forecasters are keeping their eyes on a tropical wave in the western Caribbean Sea.

The tropical wave is expected to produce showers and thunderstorms from Cuba and the Cayman Islands to Honduras.

Officials with the National Hurricane Center in Miami say condition appear marginally favorable for the wave to grow stronger.

The wave is expected to reach Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Forecasters believe there is a less than 30 percent chance of the wave becoming a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours.

Action 4 News will continue to monitor the tropical wave.
