U.S. Border Patrol agents seized $500,000 worth of drugs and a vehicle after a drug chase in the Peñitas area.

The chase started when agents picked up on a suspicious vehicle coming out of the river area.

Once agents started following the vehicle, the driver floored it.

The suspect then abandoned the truck near the river and swam across to mexico.

Agents seized roughly 650 pounds of marijuana and turned it over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Peñitas police confiscated the vehicle, which is registered to a Mission man.
