A longtime Cameron County commissioner said she will not seek re-election.

Edna Tamayo made the announcement at her home Sunday in front of family, friends and supporters.

Tamayo said she felt like everything she needed to accomplish had been done and she would not be seeking another term.

Tamayo has held the precinct one seat for the last six and a half years.
