Matamoros man ambushes wife in murder-suicide

Mexican police said a Matamoros man ambushed and killed his estranged wife outside her workplace and then turned the gun on himself.

The Metro Noticias de Tamaulipas newspaper reported the murder-suicide in its on-line edition Thursday.

The newspaper reported that Javier Flores Rodríguez and his wife Eva Ochoa Cantu broke up about a week ago.

The 42-year-old man allegedly waited for his estranged wife to get out of work at a maquiladora off Planta de Ayutla and Calixto de Ayala Streets on Thursday morning.

Metro Noticias reported that Flores allegedly shot his and killed his estranged wife and then turned the gun on himself as security guards were approaching.

Police told Metro Noticias that the case has been closed as a murder-suicide.
