HARLINGEN -- A 6-foot alligator living in a neighborhood behind Harlingen's McKelvey Park has some area residents concerned.

Marvin Payton told Action 4 News that the alligator lives in the Arroyo Colorado.

Payton first spotted gator walking in his backyard off South Parkwood Drive around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Harlingen man said he called Animal Control but they told him there's nothing they can do.

"They can't do anything about it, as long as its in the water because that's its habitat...unless it gets out on land," Payton said.

The Harlingen man said he's concerned because there are several homes and a hike and bike trail nearby.

Payton says its not unusual to see different types of wildlife near the home but says the alligator is the most unique creature he's seen so far.
