Hurricane Preparedness in Hidalgo County

HIDALGO COUNTY -- Hidalgo County officials say they're ready for hurricane season.

Several state agencies, county judges and emergency management officials from across Texas are meeting in College Station this week.

Hurricane season starts next week.

Last year, Hidalgo County officials started "e-dalgo" text messaging alert system.

County officials told Action 4 News that they're prepared for this year's hurricane season.

Action 4 News wants to get Rio Grande Valley families prepared for a hurricane.

KGBT will air its annual hurricane special following its 6 p.m. newscast on Monday, June 1.

Action 4 News will also host a phone bank and live chat during its 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts that day.
