Things are returning to normal after a Tuesday morning lockdown at Veterans Middle School in Donna.

The school went into lockdown after authorities learned that an 8th grade student had brought a gun to school.

That student was taken into custody by Donna ISD police.

It turns out that the weapon in question was a pellet gun that was not loaded.

Superintendent Roberto Loredo said the student is facing disciplinary action.

Loredo said the lockdown was lifted shortly after the incident and no students were ever at risk.
