Authorities have identified the suspect in the Amber Alert kidnapping of a 4-year-old Hidalgo girl as Raul Ornelas.

The 40-year-old man is believed to have kidnapped Lesley Perez from her front yard on Tuesday night.

The abduction prompted the issuing of a statewide Amber Alert on Wednesday morning.

Authorities released new information on the case on Wednesday afternoon.

Details were not released but authorities were able to identify the abductor as Raul Ornelas.

He is described a Hispanic male, 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds with spiked black hair, brown eyes and wearing a dark shirt.

Investigators initially said the abductor left the scene in a white 1990s model Ford F-150 but now believe Ornelas is driving a 2002 blue four-door Chevrolet Cavalier with Texas license plates 875-SBZ.

Public records show that the license plates were last registered to Ornelas at 125 East Chapin Street in Edinburg in November 2006.
