Edinburg police are investigating how one of their own lost control of a patrol unit and crashed into a telephone pole.

Police Chief Quirino Muñoz told Action 4 News that the accident happened Tuesday night.

Muñoz said the officer was injured during the accident but is expected to recover.

Police are investigating how the officer lost control of his patrol unit.
