An elderly man just two months shy of his 89th birthday was jailed on Easter Sunday in connection with a child molestation case in Primera.
Police told Action 4 News that Stuart Henry Mclntyre has been charged with indecency with a child. His alleged victim? A 10-year-old girl.
"I just can't believe it... I'm in a state of shock to be honest with you," one of the victim’s relatives told Action 4 News.
Police said it was Easter Sunday when McIntyre lured the girl away from her family in the front and lead her to a barn in the back at the home he was staying at along Stuart Place Road.
Documents revealed it was there where Mclntyre placed his hands “inside the girl's blouse” and began to “touch her chest area”... even after the victim said "no" to his unwanted sexual advances.
Not only did the suspect admit to the victim's family that he fondled the little girl inside that barn, but perhaps even more disturbing is what he said to police when asked, “why?”
"After being arrested and his rights were read...he confessed to what he did,” said Primera police officer Daniel Kafka. “He knew he was wrong and he just said he thought it would be something nice to do...just like that. No remorse. No nothing."
It's a chilling statement from a man once considered to be a long-time family friend.
The hope for victim’s family is that Mclntyre won't have the opportunity to strike again.
"Always be aware of where your child is ...even if it's in the house with a friend or a family friend,” the girl’s relative implored.
Primera police believe the 10-year-old girl may not be the only victim.
