The Mexican Consulate is now back at its original home in McAllen.

The Mexican spent $1 million dollars in renovations to their building on the the 600 block of South Broadway Street.

The consulate building is now a two-stories tall and has more room to serve more people.

Consul Miriam Medel said the renovated building allows staff better attention when it comes to legal or protection services or visa applications.

"We can offer them advise, information on their car permits, their personal permits," she said. "We do not provide them with the permits themselves but we can help them gather the information and we provide visas for people from other citizenships that are traveling into Mexico."
