Conservative groups from across the Rio Grande Valley are planning a series of "Tea Party" protests over the next two weeks.

Organizers said the three Valley events are part of nationwide protest against President Barack Obama's stimulus plan.

Conversatives are against the federal government spending billions of tax dollars to help businesses that they say should have failed.

The Taxed Enough Already (TEA) Party protests are planned for the April 15th tax deadline.

The protests are also named after the Boston Tea Party where American colonists chanted, "No taxation without reprsentation."

A Tea Party protest is planned on South Padre Island this weekend:

South Padre Island
Corner of Amberjack and Padre Blvd
Sunday, April 5
5 p.m.

Two other protests are planned in McAllen and Brownsville on Wednesday, April 15th:

Brownsville
Outside Brownsville Federal Courthouse
Wednesday, April 15
6:30 to 8 p.m.

McAllen
Archer Park
Wednesay, April 15
5:30 p.m.

Organizaers said the events are free and open to the public.
