Recycling center fire required help from American and Mexican firefighters
A group of Brownsville firefighters is back home after helping to put out a large fire that erupted at a recycling center west of Matamoros.
The En Linea Directa website is reported that the fire started at cardboard and plastics recycling center off Kilometer 6 of the Reynosa Highway early Thursday morning.
En Linea Directa reported that the fire was so large that Matamoros firefighters called for help from colleagues in Valle Hermoso across the Rio Grande in Brownsville.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but En Linea Directa said the fire spread to at least one home before being put under control.
En Linea Directa reported that several firefighters suffered from dehydration but were otherwise unharmed.
