Publicists for acclaimed accordionist and cumbia star Celso Piña have confirmed that he will play at Reynosa's 260th anniversary celebration.

The En Linea Directa website reported that Reynosa is holding a weekend this Sunday to celebrate the 260th anniversary of the Tamaulipas border city's founding.

The Mexican news website reported that Piña will perform in Reynosa's Plaza Principal before an expected crowd of thousands on Sunday.

Piña is know by fans as the "Rebelde del acordeón" or the "Rebel of the Accordion".

His music lends itself easily to dancing and blends cumbia, norteño, sonidero, ska, reggae, rap and hip-hop.

In the United States, Piña song "Cumbia Sobre El Rio" got a lot of attention after being featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Babel", which featured actor Brad Pitt.
