AUSTIN, TEXAS -- Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada was at the Texas State Capitol on Monday to speak out against the border fence.
Ahumada testified on a resolution sponsored by Texas State Rep. Eddie Lucio III in opposition of the controversial fence.
The Brownvsille mayor told the Rio Grande Guardian that he supports Lucio's House Resolution 75.
"This sends a strong message to Washington that Homeland Security should consult with the effective parties, in this instance the elected leaders," Ahumada said.
Ahumada told the Guardian that he supports a weir project to stimulate the local economy and protect the environment.
