BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS -- A student organization at the University of Texas-Brownsville will soon hold a candidate forum for the upcoming city commissioners race.

The University Democrats want to give candidates an opportunity to reach out to a demographic they would not normally hit.

They also want students to get more involved in local elections.

The forum will include a session of questions and answers.

"We got involved in the Obama campaign and helping Congressman Soloman Ortiz, and we want to keep it going," said Francisco Rodriguez with the University Democrats.

The forum will be held on March 31, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at UTB's Science Engineering Technology building.
