A man accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl bound to a wheelchair is out on bond.
Combes police arrested 49-year-old Fernando Vasquez on indecency with a child charges earlier this month.
Investigators said the alleged encounter happened at a home along Woods Road and involved a victim incapable of protecting herself.
Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but learned that the 13-year-old girl's brother walked in during the alleged sex act and immediately called police.
"He explained it to me that he heard the victim crying," said Combes Police Lt. Enrique Saldaña.
Vasquez spent five days behind bars but was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
Action 4 News has learned that the young girl provided a statement at Maggie's House, a place where forensic interviews for these type of alleged crimes against children take place.
Lt. Saldaña said investigators do not believe Vasquez preyed on the victim before the March 4th incident but fear Vasquez may flee into Mexico because he is a Mexican citizen.
Residents were quick to respond to th accusations.
"A defenseless child that's in a wheelchair cannot defend him or herself in any way, shape or form," said Combes resident Gerald Senk. "There's no excuse for that, none whatsoever."
