AUSTIN, TEXAS -- A bill filed in the Texas legislature would ban 15-passenger vans from being used by adult day cares and nursing homes.

The vans have a tendency to roll over.

In 2007, a 15-passenger van rolled over, killing several nursing home residents from Sullivan City.

In 2008, a nursing home van collided with a truck in Edinburg, sending four people to the hospital.

"It's amazing to me that the percentage is so high," said District 37 State Representative Rene Oliveira.  "The elderly shouldn't be put at risk like this."

Due to the rollover tendencies of the vans, many school districts have already stopped using them to transport children.
