Mission police said a Thursday morning chase ended after an alleged car thief crashed a stolen vehicle into a mesquite tree near Sharyland High School.

Authorities told Action 4 News that the suspect was injured and transported to the hospital with-non-life threatening injuries.

Mission Police Sgt. Jody Tittle said the chase began in Alton after an alleged hit-and-run accident off 2 Mile Line and Los Ebanos Road.

Tittle said Alton police chased the suspect into Mission where Mission police assisted in the pursuit.

The suspect is not being identified at this time but Tittle said he crashed into a mesquite tree on Shary Road one block north of Sharyland High School right after 8 a.m. Thursday.
