Salome Lopez Espino reportedly tried to enter the United States at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville at 3:30 a.m. Friday.

U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) officers ran his information and found out that he had outstanding warrants.

The Brownsville man was wanted for a kidnapping and sexual assault of a child.

Details on the cases were not available over the weekend but customs officials said the alleged fugitive was transferred to the Cameron County Jail.
