Cooler temperatures have been perfect for the Rio Grande Valley's citrus industry.

More than 27,000 acres of land are used for orchards.

A local scientist told Action 4 News that cool temperatures have been a blessing for the local orange and grapefruit crop.

He said the weather prepares the trees for colder conditions and it makes the color turn darker and faster.
